In Social Studies we continue to learn about Ghana.  My grandma taught us african dance.  My grandma and mom helped first grade batik (stamp) our tie-dyed t-shirts to wear at the African Market.- Ethan
Mrs. Friedlander came in and showed us pictures from her visit to Ghana.- Tatiana
We read Calabash Cat and made calabash bowls out of paper bowls, masking tape, and shoe polish.- Jonah
My dad come in and showed us pictures and told us about his time in Ghana.- Francesca
We made masks. We drew designs on it and hung it by the strap. They use them in special ceremonies. - Elise
We took a field trip to the Public Museum. We had to find items from Africa that we were learning about. We drew them.- Charley
They used a special loom to weave a narrow long piece of cloth.  They called it Kente Cloth. It has all sorts of designs and colors. We colored in a paper kente with markers.- Julian

In Reading, we learned about Dr. Seuss. His first book was To Think it All Started on Mulberry Street.- Libby

We read lots of Dr. Seuss books.- Sonia
We watched Horton Hears a Who movie.- Francesca
We went to Seussville on the netbooks and were able to play games, videos, and look at books. - Tatiana
We read an autobiography about Dr. Seuss and wrote down 10 things we learned. - Isabel
We read Seuss books with partners.- Deter
We glued rhyming words together because Dr. Seuss's books rhyme.- Charlie
We drank rootbeer floats and watched Dr. Seuss movies with all of first grade to celebrate our Reading Adventure accomplishment.- Isabel
We earned a pajama day, movie, and special treat because we filled our gem jar for good hallway behavior. We watched the Lorax.- Charley

In Math, we did explorations with shapes and attributes.  We did fact practice.- Tatiana
We took Unit 6 test.- Sonia
