News From the Classroom

During Daily 5, we added Word Work to our choices. We played a game called "Lightning Words."- Libby We also added Writing. We wrote about our favorite animal.- Charlie We read a story about ants. We talked about what we knew, wanted to learn, and what we learned after reading.- Sonia In Math, we were explorers with geoboards and rubberbands, pattern blocks, and base ten blocks.- Tatiana We talked about thermometers and telling the temperature. We also talked about graphing the weather. We do this everyday in our Calendar books.-Khaila We took our first math test on Unit 1.-Isabel In Science, we read books and talked about how we know it is summer. Then we wrote down words that describe summer, and even used digital cameras to take pictures of signs of summer. We went for a walk on the trails on campus.-Hersh We went outside and looked at the clouds and talked about the different kinds of clouds. -Isabel We read a book about clouds. The clouds in the sky were Cirrus Clouds.-Dexter In Social Studies, we read and talked about families. Families are the people who love us, make us feel safe, and where we belong. We drew and colored in pictures of our families. We painted a frame for them.- Francesca We had breakfast with our teddy bears. We ate pancakes with butter and syrup. It was celebrating our bears' last day at school.- Sonia On Wednesday, we were apart of the very first pep assembly. We did our first grade cheer for the whole school. We saw Willy the Wildcat there. He did a backflip.- Jonah On Friday, we had a homecoming picnic in the center circle.- Elise We had our first Show and Share. We sat in a circle on the rug and took turns sharing the things we brought for Show and Share.- Libby
