News From the Classroom 9-5

We have had lots of fun in first grade! In math, we played a game where we rolled a dice and made tally marks for each number we rolled. After 24 rolls, we found the number with the most rolls.- Jonah
We played Monster Squeeze on the Smart Board.- Tatiana
We practiced writing our numbers in our Math Journals and solved number stories on our slates.- Libby
We played a Numbergrid Game on the Smart Board.- Charlie

In Reading, we practiced Daily 5 routines. We read to self and read to someone in our 'rounds'.-Elise
We complete morning message and DOL on the Smart Board.- Hersh

In Social Studies, we are talking friends and Teddy Bears.  We finished reading the Teddy Bear Tree. We picked our own teddy bears to keep.- Ethan
In Library, we looked in different books for facts about bears. We learned that bears eat fish.- Charley
We also learned the biggest bear is the Polar Bear.  It can weigh up to 1,400 pounds.- Charlie
We combined our fruits from home to make a friendship fruit salad. We ate our salad and watched a movie about Franklin in the Ells Room with all three first grades.- Elise
We made friendship pins for ourselves and a friend.- Francesca
We read and watched the movie of Rainbow Fish. We made a rainbow fish and wrote about friends.- Isabel

Each day, we record information in our calendar books. We record the weather and temperature each day. We even keep track of class birthdays on a chart. We've had one birthday, mine!- Tatiana
